Mexican Nuptials

Love only grows by sharing. You can only have more for yourself by sharing.

For some, the idea of finding a mate to spend the rest of your life with is scary, yet for others it is a dream fulfilled that is worth their patience.

Recently, I made a brief stop in Playa Mujeres, Mexico to witness the union of one of my oldest friends, to the woman who captured his heart and made him complete. Though a trip with sentimental value, I knew the couple had quite an intriguing line up of events to create a vacation for the books.

With my good friend/ sister as my date, we arrived at our beautiful resort. The Mexican breeze mixed with the spa like aroma of the hotel created the perfect antidote to leave all worries of the world at the door.

Reminiscing, enjoying laughs, catching up with old friends and making introductions to others who have made an impact on the lives of two wonderful people, was inspiring. And even more exciting to see the large group of young affluent people living life and cordially coming together to celebrate a union long in the making.

Our first full day in Mexico was quite eventful. Most of the day was spent on a party cruise. As we traveled the Mexican seas, we danced and enjoyed a ride where libations were plentiful. Our first stop was to the Ixchel Mayan Ruins. While walking single file down the Mexican streets towards the ruins, there was a childlike happiness within the group. Probably enhanced by the libations and vitamin d we were receiving from the sun, our guided tour was engaging. Our second stop before docking, found us with a few hours of free time on the beach, leaving our skin a few shades darker and extremely relaxed after the best $20 massage I think you can find. Once back at the resort, the night was closed out with a bonfire and beach party. We’ll leave those details on the beach!

As the sun set on Saturday, it was the perfect evening for a wedding. Dressed in bright colors and flowy fabrics we all sat beachside. A stylish groom in a seersucker suit and peach polka dot tie was met by his blushing bride in a stunning mermaid style dress. With their nearest and dearest watching this couple jumped the broom into a lifetime of love and commitment. However the two didn’t run off into the sunset before dancing the night away and indulging in the love surrounding them.
